Episode 175: The Militia Group w/ Rory Felton
Before we start, if you’re company has a hard time explaining what it does you can hire me to do that in 60-90 seconds with an explainer animation. Go to drive80.com or email me at email@example.com to learn more.
The Militia Group was founded in 1998 by Chad Pearson as a booking agency, booking for artists such as Slick Shoes, Craig’s Brother, Dogwood, twothirtyeight, Acceptance, and Element 101. In 2000, Pearson teamed up with Felton to turn the agency into an independent record label based out of Huntington Beach, CA. Some of the bands they signed were Rufio, Noise Ratchet, Copeland, The Rocket Summer, Acceptance, and Cartel. The Militia Group stopped releasing new music in 2012, though its back catalogue is still in print.
I got Rory on the Skype and this is what we chat about:
- The Kansas City scene
- Putting out records when he was 16
- Revelations distribution
- Noise Ratchet
- The Rocket Summer
- Getting burned out
- And a ton more
